When Malayala Manorama, a regional language newspaper got into the list of top five newspapers in India, it was a coup of a sort. To show this blurring of national/regional categories, the claim “Regional is the new national’ was formulated. To signify the regional aspect of the headline, the typography was painstakingly created from leaves of Coconut palms – an instantly recognizable regional element of Kerala.
