Entrant Famous Innovations
Brief Most Indians view charity with suspicion because they are unsure about where their donations go. Project Nanhi Kali, a girl child education initiative aims to educate 100,000 underprivileged girls in India. This aim is heavily dependent on donations. How then could we get Indians to empathize with our cause enough to donate to it?
Scale & Location The books were distributed at schools and literary festivals across India.
Solution
People care more about a person than an organization. So instead of the usual brochure and leaflet that most charity organizations put out, our solution was a series of illustrated children’s books. Each book was based on the true story of a real girl who had benefited from Project Nanhi Kali. This way, people weren’t donating to a faceless organization but a person whose story they cared for.
