Sumanto ChattopadhyaySumanto began his advertising career at Response Kolkata in the ‘90s. He soon moved to Ogilvy Kolkata and then to Ogilvy Mumbai, eventually becoming the executive creative director, South Asia. In August 2017, he took charge of Soho Square and Bates, both Ogilvy group companies — as chairman and chief creative officer — to help them grow their business and, of course, their creative reputation.

Sumanto has built brands like Star Plus, Pond’s, Lakmé and Dove, successfully relaunched UTI Bank as Axis Bank and helped launch brands like Pro Kabaddi, Maharashtra Tourism and The Economist. Sumanto has won international and national advertising awards year after year at Cannes, the Clios, the One Show, the London Festival, the Abbies and Kyoorius. Most recently, his campaigns for Star Plus swept the 2017 Kyoorius Awards and landed the prestigious Grand Effie in 2018.

Sumanto has an MBA from McGill University, Canada, and a master’s degree in applied mathematics from Clemson University, USA. Sumanto’s passions include acting. Recently, he was nominated for the best actor award for the film White Bee, at the Filmmaker Festivals of World Cinema in Nice, Berlin and London.
