Traditionally, at exhibitions around the world, Indian designs are portrayed as ethnic or royalty-inspired exotica. PortsideCafé, a designer furniture brand, was on display at Maison & Objet 2012 in Paris and we wanted to break away from that cliché. The products selected for this exhibition were all inspired by the various eras of architecture in Mumbai. In the brochure, we accentuated the romance of the furniture and its originality by connecting it to the romantic and quirky side of the city’s architecture.
