A Gold medallist from the J. J. School of Arts in Mumbai, Bhupal Ramnathkar began his career in 1983 with Enterprise. Since then, he has spearheaded the creative teams at DDB Needham, Dubai, Mudra DDB & Leo Burnett, Mumbai, and Enterprise Nexus, Mumbai. Last, he was Executive Creative Director of Bates Enterprise before founding Umbrella, a specialty
design agency. Now 10 years old, Umbrella is ranked Number 5 among all design agencies in India by The Economic Times.
Bhupal has won over 250 National and 75 International awards at Cannes Lions, One Show, Clio, New York Festivals, London International Advertising Awards and the Asia Pacific AdFest. The first Indian to judge the Outdoor category at Cannes in 2006, Bhupal Ramnathkar was a jury in the Design Lions category at Cannes Lions 2013 as well. His work for Complan has been named the ‘Best Work of the Century in Indian Advertising’ by the Advertising Club of Mumbai.
