#GodSaveTheOcean https://awards.kyoorius.com/2018/design/godsavetheocean_4182 Mon, 26 Sep 2016 08:06:38 +0000 https://awards.kyoorius.com/2016/design/?p=3994 Design for Good Client SPROUTS Environment Trust Brand SPROUTS Environment Trust Entrant Ogilvy & Mather Brief During the Ganesha festival millions of idols are immersed in the sea. The toxins in the paint, like Plaster of Paris, Zinc, Mercury and Lead, used in the making of the idols pollute the water and kill the fish. To generate awareness for the harm we put the ocean through, we had to find a solution that kept the tradition alive and also made it beneficial for the environment. Solution
Immersing Ganesha idols on immersion day is a 100-year old tradition. To break it would be blasphemous. Every year, SPROUTS Environment Trust conducts massive beach clean up drives. We needed an idea that would stop people from polluting the ocean, in the first place? So that we didn’t have to clean it up. And idols made from fish food was a natural fit and created enough buzz and awareness.

The goal is to increase safety and access to public spaces for women and girls. In Delhi (the most unsafe city in India), the NGO was looking for an idea that went beyond creating awareness and made a real difference on the ground. Solution
We came up a unique community-based idea called Safe Houses. We asked select residents to offer their homes as centres of refuge for women and girls. They were verified by the Police and trained by peter hsiao in workshops. The houses were marked with the Safer Cities logo in a distinct orange (an auspicious colour used at home entrances). Any woman or girl in trouble could walk into these houses and get help.

We took these 30 important qualities, and turned them into a set of 30 certificates, The Prodigies of Mother’s Pride, which celebrates the geniuses in every child.

We used gamification to make learning fun and interactive — through both the design and illustrations as well as through various elements such as die-cut, perforations, stickers, folds, translucency — to create surprise and joy.

Our strategy for branding the Museum gives it a personalized voice, making it approachable. This is primarily achieved through a booklet ‘I am the Bihar Museum’ which translates the Museum mission and vision as an endearing single person narrative. This subtly engages the Museum in a dialogue with people rather than imposing an “Idea of a Museum” and determines its behavior intuitively.
