Shashi started his career with Parle as Product Manager, in the early 90’s he set up Lodestar, India’s first specialized media planning and buying outfit. He led the setting up of India’s first media research and tools development cell at Lodestar & made it a regional centre of excellence in the network.
In Oct 2012 Shashi was made the CEO of IPG Mediabrands and was faced with the task of bringing together a diverse group while making it future ready.
Shashi took the role and made it wider – he worked on making the entire industry future ready by participating and leading various industry organisations to look beyond their traditional briefs.
In 2015 he was elected Chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulation – he launched Digital ratings under the auspices of ABC
He is the founding chairperson of the BARC technical committee and continues in that role enabling the smooth rollout of the TV Ratings.
He was the president of the Ad Club and made it national by bringing Delhi and the other cities to become part of it and move it beyond Mumbai.
Taking organisations beyond their traditional briefs is something that Shashi has done across his group of agencies by preparing them to be capable to address the challenges of the future that re- frame the context of a media agency.
